Privacy policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
Vellune is designed to keep your research library on your device. As of the date above, Vellune does not collect or store personal information on a Vellune-operated server. We do not run user accounts, advertising trackers, analytics, telemetry, or a cloud service for your library.
Information on your device
The papers and files you add, notes, citations, reading progress, and app settings are stored locally on your device. Vellune does not receive a copy or sync this information to its own servers. You are responsible for backing up local files and app data.
Search and paper downloads
When you search from the app, it sends the search terms directly to the selected scholarly service, such as OpenAlex, Crossref, PubMed, arXiv, or Semantic Scholar. Those services receive the request and may process its contents and associated connection data under their own policies. Vellune does not proxy those searches. When you download a paper, your device connects to the paper's source directly; that source may receive ordinary request information.
Optional provider keys and AI features
If you enter an API key for an optional provider, Vellune stores it on your device, using the operating system's credential store when available and otherwise the local app database. The key is sent to that provider only when you use its related feature. If you use an AI feature when available, the provider you select may receive the prompts or content you submit. The provider's own privacy terms govern its handling of those requests.
Website, downloads, and third parties
This website and its installer downloads are served by Cloudflare Pages and Cloudflare R2. The website loads fonts from Fontshare. Those services may process technical request information, such as IP address, browser details, and requested URLs, to deliver and protect their services under their own policies. Vellune does not use this information to build user profiles, serve ads, or run analytics. The site does not set Vellune analytics or advertising cookies.
Children and changes
Vellune is a research tool and is not directed at children. If the way Vellune handles information changes, this page will be updated. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
